Caitlin's Concert

We were all looking forward to see her performing and she woke up with a fever. But the show must go on. After taking her medication and rested a while, I took her to school where together with all her friends, they sang, danced and entertained everyone who attended their yearly concert. There were also plenty of screaming and crying. All the kids and family members included had fun.

Special thanks to Mr James Quah who took very, very nice photos of the children, including Caitlin (as shown here).

Chinese New Year Deco 2010

I have been to two shopping mall during Chinese New Year (CNY); the Curve and 1 Utama. I Love the CNY deco there, especially the Maneko (link) prosperity cats in 1 Utama. They did such a good job and it was a marvel to see the gigantic cats.

The local newspaper reported that the cats cost them RM500,000. Not sure whether it's true but all I know is that we had a great time taking loads of photos.

Exploring with my camera

Went for a walk with my camera in tow and took some of these photos. Love them. It's interesting how normal everyday things which you take for granted look so different behind the lens.

My New Toy #1 - Camera

Hubby bought me a new camera for Christmas and birthday. After doing his research and "checking" his budget, we settled for a Canon Ixus 870 IS with 10.0 megapixel (released in August 2008) and it's mega cool.

With my old camera, I had problem taking indoor photos of Caitlin. Most of the time, it will turned out blur and I could not capture good shots as there is a time delay. It worked fine outdoor, but not indoor so when hubby suggested to "upgrade" my camera, I too think that the timing is just right as I have the intention to pass my old camera to Ryan who is also into photography. Unfortunately, he slipped and fell when he was trying to take a shot at my neighbour's house and the camera's lense was "crocked" and could not retrieved back into its body. So while we were shopping for my new camera, we also ended up sending my old camera for repair.

Ryan was devastated as I have planned to go with him on a photography adventure during our coming holidays. Nevermind, there will be other occassions. But for now, let me savour my new toy........muahhaha

Photography

I always thought that I'm more creative than my hubby. And boy was I wrong!!.

Currently, I'm into photography and one fine evening, I decided to take Ryan to the park nearby. It's for him to run around and about and for me to try snapping some "interesting" photographs. After a few shots, I show them to hubby who either said "ok" or "not ok".

I was frustrated as he was not able to tell me why certain shots were "ok" while others were not.
So, I gave him my camera and said, "Why don't you take a few shots of the same subject so that I can see the difference and how it should be done?". He gave me his usual smile and off he went.
He only took 3-4 shots and upon viewing them, I immediately see the difference. Mine were very straightforward, flat and not interesting while his have everything in the right place, have a more interesting angle and subject is very "lively".

Aghh.... there is so much to learn and practice and who better to guide me than hubby.
